The English Elvis!

Shortly, the company I work for will be celebrating it’s 70th year anniversary, so the advertising campaign that they will be doing will show the well-known yellow cup, in the hands of many of the famous characters the defined each of the decades of their existence.

And as you will see below – I played a very important role!!

I have been talking with the producers of a TV show called Troubador Texas for Sponsorship opportunities. Following the lives of Texas country musicians.
You can Visit the link here http://troubadourtx.com/

They have invited me to the last two events, the first was a small concert to around 50 guests in the studio to hear some of the shows performers, plus Michael Martin Murphey, a prominent musical voice for the Western horseman, rancher, and cowboy – known for the song ‘Wildfire’  and  in the Texas Country Music Hall Of Fame.

Last night the event was a live concert by 3 of Nashville’s most prolific songwriters, Bob DiPiero, Brett James & Tim Nichols.

They told stories about the songs they wrote, what inspired them, and stories of working with some of the biggest stars of country music.
You should listen to some of my favorite songs they wrote:

She Only Smokes When She Drinks - Joe Nichols
Live Like You Were Dying – Tim McGraw
 Southern Voice - Tim McGraw
Blue Clear Sky-George Strait
Daddy's Money-Ricochet
Cowboy's Like Us-George Strait
Out Last Night - Kenny Chesney
Cowboy Casanova - Carrie Underwood
If You Ever Stop Loving Me - Montgomery Gentry

The event was Catered by Lisa Garza - A reality TV Chef, with a southern theme. Including Fried Chicken, Black eyed peas, Jalapeno Cornbread and Grits. But somehow this simple southern food all had a gourmet touch to it. It was lovely, served with Mint Juleps & Arnold Palmer’s.

Here are just some of the desserts.

And Finally….

On Friday we went to a comedy club to see Screech from Saved by the Bell doing stand-up (Picture below to remind those not born in the 80’s/90’s) He was terrible, very crude and definatley trying to prove a point that he wasn’t the same geeky guy that we all knew him as on Saved by the Bell.

Motor Speedway & Monty Python

Last weekend we went back to the Texas Motor Speedway for another fun day of racing, But this time it was Indycar instead of the Nascar. IndyCar is open wheel. similar to a Formula 1 Car, while NASCAR are stock cars and are more like a conventional car.

The cars were going over 200mph round the track - and we had a great view from the suite!!

Before the theatre we ate at El Fenix, shown above! It's Dallas based Tex-Mex restaurant, since 1918.
Did you know that the Frozen margarita was invented in Dallas over 40 years ago? Well after living here I'm really not surprised by that fact, it's a very popular drink here, always nice to enjoy after a hard day at work!!

Last night I was given tickeys to the theatre to see the Musical - Spamalot, based on Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Wow!! It really was such a wonderful show, very funny, great music - a truly enjoyable evening.

I really like the venue, the theatre is located in Fair Park. Fair Park boasts the world's largest collection of Art Deco exhibit buildings, art and sculpture - built for the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition

Other than that - it's been an amazing few weeks, the weather has been consistently over 95*F, lots of swimming and laying by the pool - giving me a good opportunity to work on my texas tan!!
